This page contains some useful information for editors. Please contact the executive board at compositionality@episciences.org for any questions or clarifications.
The Compositionality coordinating editors, Aleks Kissinger and Joachim Kock, decide on the assignment of submissions to editors.
Editors will receive an email with further instructions when a submission is assigned to them. When this happens, the editor will be able to log in to their account, check the submission, declare any potential conflicts of interest, and invite reviewers from there. Further details on how to invite reviewers can be found on the EpiSciences documentation.
Compositionality usually requires two reviewers for each submission. Once the editors receive the reviews, they may propose a decision on the submission and open a five days deliberation period with the rest of editors. This can be done from the article management page by changing the article status to "Ask other editors for their opinion". This will open an email template which editors are welcome to edit as they see fit. All the editors will receive this email.
Whenever an editor intends to accept or reject an article, they will open a five-day deliberation period during which all editors may discuss an advice for a final decision.
All editors will receive an email with further instructions when any editor opens the five-day discussion window. When this happens, editors may access the submission and, if there are no conflicts of interest, they may access the reviews and participate on the editorial discussion.
Once a submission has been accepted for publication, the executive board will automatically receive a notification. They will take care of communicating with the authors about the final version, checking the typesetting and publishing the article.
Annually, the Steering Committee will organize a general meeting to ask for input to the editorial board. Editors are invited not only to participate but to propose any changes to the functioning of the journal.
The executive board is always available to resolve journal management issues. Please feel free to contact compositionality@episciences.org if any issues arise.
